CVE-2026-29778 Details
Description
pyLoad is a free and open-source download manager written in Python. From version 0.5.0b3.dev13 to 0.5.0b3.dev96, the edit_package() function implements insufficient sanitization for the pack_folder parameter. The current protection relies on a single-pass string replacement of "../", which can be bypassed using crafted recursive traversal sequences. This issue has been patched in version 0.5.0b3.dev97.
A path traversal vulnerability has been identified in pyLoad versions 0.5.0b3.dev13 through 0.5.0b3.dev96. The issue arises in the edit_package() function, where inadequate sanitization of the pack_folder parameter allows for recursive traversal sequences to be crafted, bypassing the existing protection that only removes certain path elements. This vulnerability enables an authenticated user with MODIFY permission to manipulate file paths, potentially writing files to sensitive locations such as /tmp.
Users can upgrade to pyLoad version 0.5.0b3.dev97 to address this vulnerability.
