Description
In Rocket.Chat <8.3.0, <8.2.1, <8.1.2, <8.0.3, <7.13.5, <7.12.6, <7.11.6, and <7.10.9, a NoSQL injection vulnerability can lead to account takeover of the first user with a generated token when an OAuth app is configured.
A NoSQL injection vulnerability has been identified in Rocket.Chat versions prior to 8.3.0, 8.2.1, 8.1.2, 8.0.3, 7.13.5, 7.12.6, 7.11.6, and 7.10.9. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers to bypass authentication and take over accounts by exploiting the access_token query parameter. Attackers can inject MongoDB operators to manipulate the query and match the first OAuth token in the database, potentially gaining access to the corresponding user account. Exploitation requires at least one OAuth token to be present in the database.
Users are advised to update to Rocket.Chat versions 8.3.0, 8.2.1, 8.1.2, 8.0.3, 7.13.5, 7.12.6, 7.11.6, or 7.10.9.
