CVE-2026-29192 Details
Description
ZITADEL is an open source identity management platform. From version 4.0.0 to 4.11.1, a vulnerability in Zitadel's login V2 interface was discovered that allowed a possible account takeover via Default URI Redirect. This issue has been patched in version 4.12.0.
A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in ZITADEL's login interface V2, affecting versions 4.0.0 prior to 4.11.1. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute malicious JavaScript in the victim's browser, potentially leading to account takeover by resetting the victim's password. The issue arises from improper handling of the default redirect URI, which can be manipulated by organization administrators. However, accounts with Multi-Factor Authentication or Passwordless authentication enabled are not vulnerable.
Users are advised to upgrade to ZITADEL version 4.12.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched. Instructions for upgrading can be found in the ZITADEL release notes.
