CVE-2026-27780 Details
Description
Gitea versions before 1.26.0 do not fail closed on bufio.Scanner errors while processing pre-receive hook input, allowing oversized input to bypass branch-protection checks.
A vulnerability in Gitea versions prior to 1.26.0 allows oversized input to bypass branch protection checks. This issue arises because the application does not properly handle errors from the bufio.Scanner when processing pre-receive hook input, enabling the input to exceed expected limits and circumvent protection mechanisms.
Users can upgrade to Gitea version 1.26.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
