Description
IBM i 7.6, 7.5, 7.4, 7.3, and 7.2 s vulnerable to privilege escalation caused by an invalid IBM i Web Administration GUI authorization check. A malicious actor could cause user-controlled code to run with administrator privilege.
A privilege escalation vulnerability has been identified in the Web Administration GUI for IBM i versions 7.6, 7.5, 7.4, 7.3, and 7.2. The vulnerability arises from an invalid authorization check, allowing a malicious actor to execute user-controlled code with administrator privileges.
Users are advised to upgrade to a supported version of IBM i that includes the fix. Instructions for downloading the necessary patches are available on the IBM Support website. For version 7.6, the PTF number is SJ08417; for 7.5, it is SJ08418; for 7.4, it is SJ08419; for 7.3, it is SJ08604; and for 7.2, it is SJ08818.
