CVE-2026-22854 Details
Description
FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to 3.20.1, a heap-buffer-overflow occurs in drive read when a server-controlled read length is used to read file data into an IRP output stream buffer without a hard upper bound, allowing an oversized read to overwrite heap memory. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.20.1.
A heap-buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in FreeRDP, a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. This issue affects versions through 3.20.0 and occurs in the drive read functionality. The vulnerability arises when a server-controlled read length is used to transfer file data into an IRP output stream buffer without a strict upper limit. This oversight allows an excessively large read to overwrite heap memory. The vulnerability has been patched in version 3.20.1.
Users can upgrade to FreeRDP version 3.20.1 to address this vulnerability.
