CVE-2026-20744 Details
Description
The charging station websocket endpoint accepts connections without proper authentication, which could lead to privilege escalation.
A vulnerability exists in the Hydro-Québec Le Circuit Électrique charging station backend, allowing WebSocket connections to be accepted without proper authentication. This flaw could lead to unauthorized privilege escalation. The issue arises from inadequate access control, enabling multiple instances of malicious Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) clients to be deployed and potentially overwhelm the backend system.
Hydro-Québec has updated most charging stations to disable OCPP, reducing the risk of exploitation. For stations still using OCPP, authentication systems have been implemented. Contact Hydro-Québec for more information.
