Description
A weakness has been identified in H3C NX15 V100R017. This impacts the function file.exec of the file /api/esps of the component Backend RPC. This manipulation of the argument File causes os command injection. The attack may be initiated remotely. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure.
A command injection vulnerability has been identified in the H3C NX15 router firmware version V100R017. The issue arises in the backend RPC component, specifically within the file execution method of the API endpoint /api/esps. This vulnerability allows authenticated users to inject commands that are executed with root privileges on the device. The flaw can be exploited remotely, and a proof-of-concept for this vulnerability has been made publicly available.
To address this vulnerability, it is recommended to prevent the /api/esps endpoint from forwarding requests to raw ubus objects that allow command execution. Additionally, a strict allowlist should be implemented for web-exposed RPC methods, and access to command execution features should be restricted from the web management interface.
