Description
Crypt::Password versions through 0.28 for Perl generate insecure random values for salts. These versions use the built-in rand function, which is predictable and unsuitable for cryptography.
A vulnerability exists in Crypt::Password versions through 0.28 for Perl, where the module generates weak random values for salts by using the predictable built-in rand function, rendering it unsuitable for cryptographic purposes. This issue can lead to the creation of easily guessable salts, compromising the security of password hashing.
