Description
The Analog Way Picturall Quad Compact Mark II version 3.5.8, contains a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the core firmware. This is due to improper privilege delegation and insufficient input validation in a maintenance script.
A local privilege escalation vulnerability has been identified in Analog Way Picturall Quad Compact Mark II version 3.5.8. The issue arises from improper privilege delegation and inadequate input validation in a maintenance script, allowing low-privileged users to execute the script as root without a password. By creating a malicious Ext4 disk image that includes a specially crafted version file, an attacker can exploit the vulnerability to write files to sensitive system locations and execute arbitrary commands with root privileges.
Users are advised to update to Analog Way Picturall Quad Compact Mark II version 3.5.9, which addresses this vulnerability.
