Description
A flaw was found in the Pen Drive report generator. Cluster-sourced data is rendered into HTML reports without proper escaping or sanitization. An attacker with cluster administrator privileges can inject a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) payload into cluster objects (such as ClusterVersion spec.channel) that executes in the browser of any user who opens the generated HTML report.
A stored cross-site scripting vulnerability has been identified in the Pen Drive report generator, affecting versions prior to 1.0.0-2. This issue arises because cluster-sourced data is incorporated into HTML reports without adequate escaping or sanitization. An attacker with cluster administrator privileges can inject a cross-site scripting payload into cluster objects, such as the ClusterVersion specification channel. The injected script is executed in the browser of any user who opens the generated HTML report.
Users are advised to upgrade Pen Drive to version 1.0.0-2 or later, which includes the fix for this vulnerability. If an immediate upgrade is not possible, HTML reports generated by Pen Drive should be reviewed for untrusted content before opening them in a browser. Alternatively, reports can be opened in a sandboxed browser environment or with JavaScript disabled. When using must-gather archives from untrusted sources, it's important to validate the archive content before processing it with Pen Drive.
