Description
The github_workflows module constructs local directory paths from user-controlled repository names without validating for symlinks. A local attacker sharing the scan directory can plant a symlink at the predictable output path, causing workflow data to be written to an attacker-chosen location.
A vulnerability exists in the github_workflows module of Blacklanternsecurity's Bbot tool, specifically in versions prior to 3.0.0.1271rc. The issue arises because the module constructs local directory paths from user-controlled repository names without properly validating for symlinks. This flaw allows a local attacker to create a symlink at a predictable output path, redirecting workflow data to an attacker-chosen location.
Users can update to Blacklanternsecurity Bbot version 3.0.0.1271rc or later, where this vulnerability has been addressed.
