Description
A vulnerability was identified in Aider-AI Aider 0.86.3. Affected is an unknown function of the file aider/args.py of the component Pre-commit Hook Handler. Such manipulation of the argument git-commit-verify leads to protection mechanism failure. The attack may be launched remotely. The exploit is publicly available and might be used. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.
A vulnerability exists in Aider-AI Aider version 0.86.3, where the application bypasses Git pre-commit hooks by default. This is due to the 'git-commit-verify' option being set to 'False', which allows Aider to append '--no-verify' to Git commit commands. As a result, pre-commit hooks that enforce security policies or block certain patterns can be easily circumvented. The issue can be exploited remotely, and a public exploit is available.
Users can manually enable pre-commit hook verification in Aider by setting the 'git-commit-verify' option to 'True'.
