CVE-2026-101069 Details
Description
A weakness has been identified in dbgate up to 7.3.1. Affected is the function exportModelSql of the file packages/api/src/controllers/databaseConnections.js of the component Export Handler. Executing a manipulation of the argument outputFile can lead to path traversal. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
A path traversal vulnerability has been identified in DbGate versions through 7.3.1. The issue arises in the Export Handler component, specifically within the exportModelSql function of the file packages/api/src/controllers/databaseConnections.js. The vulnerability allows remote attackers to manipulate the outputFile parameter, which is passed to the fs.writeFile() function without proper path validation. This lack of validation enables attackers to write SQL export content to arbitrary locations on the filesystem, overwriting existing files. The vulnerability can be exploited by obtaining a valid database connection ID (conid) through the connections/new-sqlite-database API endpoint, available in the default anonymous Docker deployment of DbGate.
