Description
A vulnerability was determined in FAST FAC1200R 5.0_20201119_1.0.2. Affected by this vulnerability is the function MmtAtePrase of the component MmtAtePrase Parser. This manipulation causes stack-based buffer overflow. Remote exploitation of the attack is possible. The exploit has been publicly disclosed and may be utilized. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability has been identified in the FAST FAC1200R router, specifically in version 5.0_20201119_1.0.2. The issue arises in the MmtAtePrase Parser, which is part of the device's UDP 1060 twlantask service. The vulnerability allows for remote exploitation by sending a crafted UDP packet that includes the wioctl command prefix and an oversized argument. This manipulation can corrupt stack data, potentially leading to a service crash or denial-of-service condition.
No public firmware patch is currently available for this vulnerability. However, it is recommended to restrict access to UDP port 1060 to trusted hosts, filter untrusted UDP 1060 traffic at the gateway or firewall, and avoid exposing vendor-private management or discovery services to the WAN side.
