Description
A weakness has been identified in zhistaredu StarTraining up to 3.8.1. This vulnerability affects unknown code of the file du-common/src/main/java/com/edu/common/utils/file/MimeTypeUtils.java of the component Upload Endpoint. This manipulation of the argument File causes cross site scripting. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in zhistaredu StarTraining versions through 3.8.1. The issue arises in the Upload Endpoint, specifically within the file du-common/src/main/java/com/edu/common/utils/file/MimeTypeUtils.java. The vulnerability allows for the manipulation of file upload arguments, enabling remote execution of scripts. Exploitation is possible by uploading HTML files that include JavaScript, which is then executed when the file is accessed.
To address this vulnerability, remove HTML files from the list of allowed upload extensions, require authentication for accessing profile URLs, and enable an XSS filter to sanitize uploaded content.
