Description
A security flaw has been discovered in zhistaredu StarTraining up to 3.8.1. This affects the function checkRoleAllowed of the file SysRoleServiceImpl.java of the component dataScope Endpoint. The manipulation results in missing authorization. The attack may be performed from remote. The exploit has been released to the public and may be used for attacks. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
A security vulnerability allowing improper authorization has been identified in zhistaredu StarTraining versions through 3.8.1. The issue arises in the dataScope endpoint within the SysRoleServiceImpl.java file, specifically in the checkRoleAllowed function. This vulnerability allows authenticated users to manipulate role management APIs, including adding, editing, and deleting roles, without the necessary authorization. The flaw can be exploited remotely, and a public exploit is available.
To address this vulnerability, it is recommended to add method-level authorization annotations, such as '@PreAuthorize', to the role management endpoints. Additionally, the service-layer authorization checks should be invoked to ensure proper authorization is enforced.
