Description
A vulnerability with a privilege management mechanism in the Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access Agent® enables a locally authenticated non-administrative user to escalate their privileges to root on macOS and Linux or NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM on Windows. This allows the user to execute arbitrary code and read sensitive information otherwise accessible only to privileged accounts. The Prisma Access Agent on iOS, Android and Chrome OS are not affected.
A vulnerability in the privilege management mechanism of Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access Agent allows a locally authenticated non-administrative user to escalate privileges to root on macOS and Linux, or to NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM on Windows. This privilege escalation enables the execution of arbitrary code and access to sensitive information typically restricted to privileged accounts. The vulnerability affects versions prior to 26.2.1 on macOS, Linux, and Windows, but not on iOS, Android, or Chrome OS.
Users can upgrade to version 26.2.1 or later to address this vulnerability. For those using the Prisma Access Agent on Android, Chrome OS, or iOS, no action is needed.
