CVE-2025-9518 Details
Description
The atec Debug plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation on the 'debug_path' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.2.22. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Administrator-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php).
A vulnerability allowing arbitrary file deletion has been identified in the Atec Debug plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 1.2.22. This issue arises from inadequate validation of file paths in the 'debug_path' parameter, enabling authenticated attackers with Administrator-level access to delete arbitrary files on the server. Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to remote code execution, particularly if critical files like wp-config.php are removed.
Users are advised to update the Atec Debug plugin to version 1.2.23 or later.
