CVE-2025-7846 Details
Description
The WordPress User Extra Fields plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the save_fields() function in all versions up to, and including, 16.7. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php).
A vulnerability allowing arbitrary file deletion has been identified in the WordPress User Extra Fields plugin, affecting all versions through 16.7. This issue arises from inadequate file path validation in the save_fields() function, enabling authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access or higher to delete arbitrary files from the server. Such deletions could lead to remote code execution, particularly if critical files like wp-config.php are removed.
Users are advised to update the WordPress User Extra Fields plugin to version 16.8 or a newer patched version.
