An issue in ChestnutCMS v.1.5.8 and before allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code via the template creation function
A FreeMarker template injection vulnerability has been identified in ChestnutCMS versions through 1.5.8. This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by exploiting the template creation function. When templates are created or edited in the administrator backend, malicious FreeMarker expressions can be saved and later executed during template rendering via the CoreController. The vulnerability arises from the lack of security restrictions in the template processing, potentially leading to remote code execution on the server, depending on the FreeMarker configuration and JVM security policies.
