Description
Improper neutralization of special elements used in an sql command ('sql injection') in SQL Server allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges over a network.
A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in Microsoft SQL Server, allowing an authorized attacker to inject arbitrary T-SQL commands and potentially elevate privileges. This issue affects several versions of SQL Server, including 2022, 2019, 2017, and 2016, across different cumulative and general distribution releases. The vulnerability arises from improper neutralization of special elements in SQL commands, enabling privilege escalation over the network.
Users can apply the security update for their specific SQL Server version. For SQL Server 2022, the update is available in the November 2025 Cumulative Update 21. SQL Server 2019 users can download the security update from the November 2025 Cumulative Update 32. SQL Server 2017 users should look for the November 2025 GDR update. For SQL Server 2016, the security update is available through the Azure Connect Feature Pack GDR or the SP3 GDR.
