Description
Memory safety bugs present in Firefox 138, Thunderbird 138, Firefox ESR 128.10, and Thunderbird 128.10. Some of these bugs showed evidence of memory corruption and we presume that with enough effort some of these could have been exploited to run arbitrary code. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox 139, Firefox ESR 128.11, Thunderbird 139, and Thunderbird 128.11.
A vulnerability has been identified in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird applications, specifically in Firefox versions prior to 139, Thunderbird versions prior to 139, Firefox ESR versions prior to 128.11, and Thunderbird ESR versions prior to 128.11. This vulnerability arises from memory safety bugs that were present in Firefox 138, Thunderbird 138, Firefox ESR 128.10, and Thunderbird 128.10. Some of these bugs indicated memory corruption, leading to the presumption that, with sufficient effort, they could have been exploited to execute arbitrary code.
Users can upgrade to Firefox 139, Thunderbird 139, Firefox ESR 128.11, or Thunderbird ESR 128.11 to address this vulnerability.
