CVE-2025-5088 Details
Description
An authenticated Redis session could be used to obtain full root access to all servers in the CVX cluster. Note that this would require an attacker to have both network access to the Redis service on a CVX server and the Redis password. Please note that all Redis communication, including authentication, occurs over plaintext in the present day. TLS support is tracked under RFE1294850.
A vulnerability exists in Arista CloudVision Exchange (CVX) that allows an authenticated Redis session to be exploited for gaining full root access to all servers within the CVX cluster. This issue arises because Redis communication, including authentication, is transmitted in plaintext, leaving it vulnerable to interception. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must have network access to the Redis service on a CVX server and knowledge of the Redis password. The lack of encryption in Redis communication, coupled with the requirement for authenticated access, creates a significant security risk.
Users are advised to upgrade to CloudVision Exchange versions 4.34.2F, 4.33.5M, 4.32.7M, or 4.31.9M. For more information on upgrading, consult the EOS User Manual: Upgrades and Downgrades.
