Description
In sendCommand of MediaSessionRecord.java, there is a possible way to launch the foreground service while the app is in the background due to FGS while-in-use abuse. This could lead to local escalation of privilege with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.
A vulnerability has been identified in the Android framework's media session management. It allows an application to launch a foreground service while in the background, exploiting the 'foreground service while-in-use' permission abuse. This could lead to unauthorized privileges being granted, without the need for additional execution rights or user interaction.
Users can update their devices to the December 2025 security patch level to address this vulnerability.
