Description
Nagios Log Server before 2024R1.3.2 allows authenticated users (with read-only API access) to stop the Elasticsearch service via a /nagioslogserver/index.php/api/system/stop?subsystem=elasticsearch call. The service stops even though "message": "Could not stop elasticsearch" is in the API response. This is GL:NLS#474.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in Nagios Log Server versions prior to 2024R1.3.2. This issue allows authenticated users with read-only API access to stop the Elasticsearch service via a specific API call. Despite the API response indicating that Elasticsearch could not be stopped, the service does stop, disrupting log indexing, alert generation, and historical data retrieval. This vulnerability was reported as GL:NLS#474.
Users can update to Nagios Log Server version 2024R1.3.2 or later, where this vulnerability has been fixed.
