CVE-2025-26402 Details
Description
Protection mechanism failure for some Intel(R) NPU Drivers within Ring 3: User Applications may allow a denial of service. Unprivileged software adversary with an authenticated user combined with a low complexity attack may enable denial of service. This result may potentially occur via local access when attack requirements are not present without special internal knowledge and requires no user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (high) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (none) impacts.
A denial-of-service vulnerability has been identified in some Intel NPU Drivers for Linux and Windows. This issue arises from a protection mechanism failure within user applications, allowing an unprivileged software adversary with authenticated user access to disrupt service. The vulnerability can potentially be exploited through local access, without special internal knowledge, and requires no user interaction. While the vulnerability itself does not impact confidentiality or integrity, it significantly affects system availability.
Users are advised to update the Intel NPU Driver for Linux to version 1.16.0 or later. For Windows, the driver should be updated to version 32.0.100.4023 or later. These updates are available for download from the Intel GitHub repository for Linux drivers and the Intel Download Center for Windows drivers.
