Description
Improper restriction of environment variables in Elastic Defend can lead to exposure of sensitive information such as API keys and tokens via automatic transmission of unfiltered environment variables to the stack.
A vulnerability in Elastic Defend prior to version 8.17.3 on macOS can result in the unintentional exposure of sensitive information, such as API keys and tokens. This occurs through the automatic transmission of unfiltered environment variables to the stack, where they can be logged and potentially accessed by unauthorized users.
Users can upgrade to Elastic Defend version 8.17.3 or later to address this vulnerability.
