Description
Improper check for unusual or exceptional conditions in the Linux kernel-mode driver for some Intel(R) 800 Series Ethernet before version 1.17.2 may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local access.
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel-mode driver for Intel 800 Series Ethernet, prior to version 1.17.2, allows an authenticated user to potentially escalate privileges through local access. This issue arises from improper input validation and insufficient control flow management, which could be exploited to manipulate driver behavior and gain elevated rights.
Users are advised to update the Intel 800 Series Ethernet drivers to version 1.17.2 or later. Updates are available on the Intel GitHub repository for Ethernet Linux drivers or through the Intel Ethernet Adapter Complete Driver Pack version 30.0.1 or later.
