Description
iTop is an web based IT Service Management tool. Versions prior to 3.2.1 are vulnerable to regular expression denial of service (ReDoS) that may, under some circumstances, affect iTop server. Version 3.2.1 doesn't use the affected variable in the regular expression. As a workaround, if iTop app_root_url is defined in the configuration file, then there is no possible way to exploit this ReDoS.
A regular expression denial-of-service (ReDoS) vulnerability has been identified in iTop, a web-based IT Service Management tool, affecting versions prior to 3.2.1. This vulnerability may, under certain circumstances, impact the iTop server. The issue arises from the use of a vulnerable variable in a regular expression, which can be exploited to cause performance degradation. However, version 3.2.1 has addressed this issue by removing the affected variable from the regular expression. Additionally, if the 'iTop app_root_url' is defined in the configuration file, this ReDoS vulnerability cannot be exploited.
Users can upgrade to iTop version 3.2.1 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched. If version 3.2.1 cannot be applied, as a workaround, ensure that the 'iTop app_root_url' is hard coded in the configuration file.
