Description
The Community Events plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to SQL Injection via the event_category parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.5.1 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database.
A SQL injection vulnerability has been identified in the Community Events plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions up to and including 1.5.1. The vulnerability arises from inadequate escaping of user-supplied data in the event_category parameter, allowing authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access or higher to inject additional SQL queries. This exploitation could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information in the database.
Users are advised to update the Community Events plugin to version 1.5.2 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
