Description
Improper authorization in Kibana can lead to privilege abuse via a direct HTTP request to a Synthetic monitor endpoint.
A vulnerability exists in Kibana versions prior to and including 8.12.0, where improper authorization can lead to privilege abuse. This issue can be exploited by sending a direct HTTP request to a Synthetic monitor endpoint.
Users can upgrade to Kibana 8.12.1, where this issue is resolved. For self-hosted deployments that cannot upgrade, the synthetics app can be disabled or a block can be put on synthetics indices to make them read-only. Users on Elastic Cloud can also put a block on synthetics indices to make them read-only.
