Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/xe: Check pat.ops before dumping PAT settings We may leave pat.ops unset when running on brand new platform or when running as a VF. While the former is unlikely, the latter is valid (future) use case and will cause NPD when someone will try to dump PAT settings by debugfs. It's better to check pointer to pat.ops instead of specific .dump hook, as we have this hook always defined for every .ops variant.
A vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's handling of the PAT (Page Attribute Table) operations within the DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) XE driver. This issue can lead to a null pointer dereference when PAT settings are dumped via debugfs. The vulnerability arises because pat.ops may be left unset, particularly when operating as a virtual function (VF) or on a new platform. The problem has been addressed by modifying the PAT dumping process to check the validity of the pat.ops pointer before attempting to access it, ensuring that the dump operation does not encounter an unset pointer.
Users can upgrade to the latest version of the Linux kernel where this vulnerability has been addressed. The specific commit containing the fix is available in the Linux kernel stable tree.
