Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/pm: fixes a random hang in S4 for SMU v13.0.4/11 While doing multiple S4 stress tests, GC/RLC/PMFW get into an invalid state resulting into hard hangs. Adding a GFX reset as workaround just before sending the MP1_UNLOAD message avoids this failure.
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel AMD GPU driver for SMU version 13.0.4/11 can cause random hangs during S4 sleep mode. This issue arises because the Graphics Core (GC), Radeon Logic Controller (RLC), and Power Management Firmware (PMFW) enter an invalid state after multiple S4 stress tests, leading to hard hangs. The problem can be mitigated by adding a graphics reset before unloading the MP1 message, which prevents the firmware components from failing.
Users can apply the latest patch available in the Linux kernel stable tree to address this vulnerability.
