CVE-2024-26901 Details
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: do_sys_name_to_handle(): use kzalloc() to fix kernel-infoleak syzbot identified a kernel information leak vulnerability in do_sys_name_to_handle() and issued the following report [1]. A kernel information leak vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's do_sys_name_to_handle() function. This vulnerability allows uninitialized memory to be accessed and copied to user space, potentially leading to information disclosure. The issue was reported by syzbot and is related to how the function handles file names when converting them to file handles.
The vulnerability has been fixed by changing the memory allocation function from kmalloc() to kzalloc() in the do_sys_name_to_handle() function. Users should upgrade to a version of the Linux kernel that includes this fix.
