CVE-2024-12545 Details
Description
The Scratch & Win – Giveaways and Contests. Boost subscribers, traffic, repeat visits, referrals, sales and more plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to, and including, 2.7.1. This is due to missing nonce validation on the reset_installation() function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to reset the plugin’s installation via a forged request granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link.
A Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability has been identified in the Scratch & Win WordPress plugin, specifically in versions through 2.7.1. The issue arises from the reset_installation() function, which lacks proper nonce validation. This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to reset the plugin's installation by sending a forged request, provided they can persuade a site administrator to click a link or perform a similar action.
Users are advised to update the Scratch & Win WordPress plugin to version 2.8.0 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
