CVE-2024-12145 Details
Description
The BuddyPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 14.3.3 via the bp_notifications_action_bulk_manage due to missing validation on a user controlled key. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to delete/mark as read/mark as unread notifications of other users.
A vulnerability allowing Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) has been identified in the BuddyPress plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 14.3.3. The issue arises in the bp_notifications_action_bulk_manage function, where insufficient validation on user-controlled keys allows authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access or higher to manipulate the notification statuses of other users. This includes the ability to delete notifications or mark them as read or unread.
Users are advised to update the BuddyPress plugin to version 14.3.4 or later, where this vulnerability has been patched.
