CVE-2024-12035 Details
Description
The CS Framework plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the cs_widget_file_delete() function in all versions up to, and including, 6.9. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php).
A vulnerability allowing arbitrary file deletion has been identified in the CS Framework plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions through 6.9. This issue arises from inadequate file path validation in the cs_widget_file_delete() function. As a result, authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access or higher can delete arbitrary files on the server. Such deletions could lead to remote code execution, particularly if critical files like wp-config.php are removed.
Users are advised to update the CS Framework WordPress plugin to version 7.1 or a newer patched version.
