CVE-2023-53502 Details
Description
Rejected reason: This CVE ID has been rejected or withdrawn by its CVE Numbering Authority.
A buffer overrun vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel's Xen netback component. This issue arises when a guest sends a packet with a header plus 18 slots, while the length is less than or equal to a specific threshold. This discrepancy causes the number of slots to underflow in the request handling function, leading to an incorrect loop termination condition and a subsequent buffer overrun of the transmission mapping operations. The vulnerability has been addressed by modifying the code to properly account for the additional overflow slots.
Users can upgrade to the latest version of the Linux kernel where this vulnerability has been patched. Instructions for downloading the updated kernel can be found on the official Linux kernel website.
