CVE-2022-50267 Details
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mmc: rtsx_pci: fix return value check of mmc_add_host() mmc_add_host() may return error, if we ignore its return value, the memory that allocated in mmc_alloc_host() will be leaked and it will lead a kernel crash because of deleting not added device in the remove path. So fix this by checking the return value and calling mmc_free_host() in the error path, beside, runtime PM also needs be disabled.
A vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's handling of the Realtek PCIe SDMMC host driver. The issue arises because the function 'mmc_add_host()' can return an error, and if this return value is ignored, it leads to a memory leak from 'mmc_alloc_host()'. This memory leak can cause a kernel crash when the system attempts to remove a device that was not properly added. The vulnerability has been addressed by modifying the driver to check the return value of 'mmc_add_host()', free the host memory in case of an error, and disable runtime power management. This vulnerability affects several versions of the Linux kernel.
Users can upgrade to the latest version of the Linux kernel where this vulnerability has been fixed.
