Description
Windows Mark of the Web Security Feature Bypass Vulnerability
A security feature bypass vulnerability has been identified in Microsoft Windows Mark of the Web (MOTW). This vulnerability allows attackers to create malicious files that can evade MOTW defenses, leading to a limited loss of integrity and availability in security features that depend on MOTW tagging, such as Protected View in Microsoft Office. The vulnerability can be exploited through web-based attacks, or by sending specially crafted .url files via email or instant messages.
