Description
Microsoft Outlook 2010 SP2, Outlook 2013 SP1 and RT SP1, and Outlook 2016 allow an attacker to execute arbitrary commands, due to how Microsoft Office handles objects in memory, aka "Microsoft Outlook Security Feature Bypass Vulnerability."
A security feature bypass vulnerability has been identified in Microsoft Outlook 2010 SP2, Outlook 2013 SP1 and RT SP1, and Outlook 2016. This vulnerability arises from improper handling of objects in memory, allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary commands. The issue can be exploited by setting a malicious homepage URL in Outlook, which is then executed when the folder is accessed.
Users are advised to apply the security update KB4011162, which removes the homepage feature from Outlook, effectively closing this vulnerability.
