Description
Microsoft Office 2013 SP1 and 2013 RT SP1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted Office document, aka "Microsoft Office Uninitialized Memory Use Vulnerability."
A remote code execution vulnerability has been identified in Microsoft Office 2013 SP1 and 2013 RT SP1. This vulnerability arises from the software's improper handling of objects in memory, specifically when parsing specially crafted Office documents. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by convincing a user to open a malicious file, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution in the context of the user's privileges.
Users can apply the security update available through the Microsoft Update Catalog. For Office 2013 SP1, the update is included in the March 2015 Patch Tuesday release. Instructions for deploying the update can be found in the Microsoft Security Bulletin MS15-059.
