Description
Microsoft Word 2007 SP3, Office 2010 SP2, Word 2010 SP2, Word 2013 SP1, Word 2013 RT SP1, Word for Mac 2011, Office Compatibility Pack SP3, Word Automation Services on SharePoint Server 2010 SP2 and 2013 SP1, and Office Web Apps Server 2010 SP2 and 2013 SP1 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted RTF document, aka "Microsoft Office Memory Corruption Vulnerability."
A memory corruption vulnerability has been identified in multiple Microsoft Office products, including Word 2007 SP3, Office 2010 SP2, Word 2013 SP1, Word for Mac 2011, and several versions of SharePoint and Office Web Apps Server. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by exploiting how Office applications handle rich text format files in memory. The issue arises in Word Automation Services on SharePoint Server 2010 SP2 and 2013 SP1, as well as in the Office Compatibility Pack SP3.
Users can apply the security update 2965284 for Microsoft Word 2007, 2965236 for Office 2010, 2965224 for Word 2013, and 3051737 for Office for Mac 2011. SharePoint users should update to version 2553164 for SharePoint 2010 SP2 or 2965215 for SharePoint 2013 SP1. Office Web Apps Server users should update to 2965238 for 2010 SP2 or 2965306 for 2013 SP1.
